PaperCamp
Im Rahmen des BookCamp in London wurde heuer auch das PaperCamp abgehalten. Wobei das PaperCamp wie folgt beschrieben wurde:
A get-together for a day to talk about, fiddle with, make and explore what’s possible with paper based on a blog post where a lot of people seemed enthusiastic about the idea. PaperCamp is a ‘fringe’ event to BookCamp, in London’s Kings Cross on the 17th January.
Jeremy Keith hat eine gute Zusammenfassung des Events auf seinem Blog gepostet. Sehr genial finde ich bei dem Event den microprinter von Tom Taylor. Jeremy Keith hat das Projekt gut zusammengefasst:
Tom Taylor has an awesome analogue mashup. He bought a cheap little till printer, the small dinky kind that is used for printing off shop receipts. As he put it,
If A4 is a blog, this is Twitter.He has hooked it up to an arduino board which connects to his computer which is connected to the internet. That’s the hardware side of the things. The software side of things is pretty simple. Every day at 8:00am, a programme pulls in data from various places: appointments from his calendar, the movements of his fellow travellers on Dopplr, and when Tower Bridge will be opening and closing (of course). This gets output to a queue and a few seconds later, that gets output—via the arduino board—to the till printer. Tom now has a small slip of paper with all the little reminders he might need for the day. It is, as I said, awesome. I want one.
Ich finde das ist irgendwie eine sehr geniale Idee. So ein kleines Zettelchen ist zwar nicht wirklich ein Ersatz für das iPhone, aber irgendwie gefällt mir das trotzdem. Vielleicht bastel ich mir sowas auch noch. Oder noch viel besser, mach ein Schülerprojekt daraus…
